This scenic helicopter flight to Doubtful Sound, "The Sound of Silence" will take you into the very heart of Fiordland, providing fantastic views of the rugged mountains, rainforest and hidden inlets before making a high alpine landing at remote Mt Kidd.
Setting off from the Te Anau base, you will soar high above the Iris Burn Valley and Lake Manapouri, also known as the "Lake of Many Islands". Here you will be able to spot the infamous West Arm Power Station before flying up and over the Wilmot Pass into Doubtful Sound. This long and winding fiord is one of Fiordland’s deepest and is home to a number of stunning waterfalls. If the weather is suitable, your helicopter will detour into the magical Campbell’s Kingdom, a beautiful hanging valley encompassing a lake and a waterfall which really is the stuff of fairy tales brought to life. From here, you will glimpse Bradshaw Sound before soaring over the Main Divide of the Southern Alps for a second remote landing at the scenic Mount Kidd. Make sure you have your camera or phone well charged for this flight, you’ll want to re-visit the scenes and landscapes you visit over and over again!
Minimum numbers do apply - two persons per flight - subject to aircraft availability, but we will always do our best to combine bookings in order to accommodate our customers.
You can watch the aircraft take off however space in office is limited, there is a toilet available on site.
The pilots make a weather call each morning. Passengers are welcome to call the office for an update. If we have concerns regarding weather, we usually try and give booked passengers a call the day before to talk through options.
Sturdy shoes, pants, and a light jacket. Wearing warm layers is a good idea since it can be a little colder up in the mountains at our landing location but nice and warm inside the helicopter.
All our flights are shared with others. If you would prefer to book an exclusive flight, please let us know at the time of booking and we will confirm the cost with you. The number of passengers and weight will determine the most the suitable aircraft.

That’s 10% of the Australian population! When we started ‘doing’ experiences in 2001, Facebook didn’t exist; the iPod had just been invented; John Howard was Prime Minister; and Destiny's Child were popular (yikes!). We’ve been at this business of experiences for quite a while, so put your trust in us to show you a good time.
