Cast a magic spell on your body, mind and soul using the nutrient-rich waters and mud at New Zealand's iconic Hell's Gate. This unique blend of awe-inspiring healing properties has been used for over 800 years, including Maori warriors to soothe their battle-scarred bodies. Sink into the mud pool and gently exfoliate your skin as you lather your entire body, before soaking in the sulphur spa and cool plunge pool. Feel invigorated with every passing moment as you feel your aches and pains wash away. As you bubble away, take in the stunning view of the geothermal reserve of Hell's Gate that lay before you.

Session Length
- Please allow approximately 1.5 hours for the entire experience
- The mud bath has a maximum bathing time of 20 minutes due to health and safety reasons. The sulphur spas have no time limit
- Operating days and hours may vary
Restrictions
It is recommended that women do not use the bathing facilities whilst pregnant. Participants should seek advice from their health professional if they are wanting to bathe. Bathing is also not recommended for persons with heart problems or other serious medical conditions.
Guidelines
- The minimum age for the mud baths is 2.5 years, and for the sulphur spa is six months
- Children aged four and under are free of charge with a paying adult
- There is plenty of parking onsite for those self-driving, or alternatively Hell's Gate offers a complimentary shuttle service from within Rotorua CBD. Bookings are essential, please check the Hell's Gate website for the latest shuttle timetable and to contact the provider to organise your shuttle service
Cancellation
- Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
- Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
- Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience
Spectators
Spectators are more than welcome to join their family/ friends in the spa facilities and take photos etc. There are seats available around the pools, or there is a café onsite for those waiting for family/ friends to complete their bathing experience.
Weather
There are rain shades over the pools which allows slight shelter during the rain.
Dress Code
Bring swimwear, towels and comfortable clothes. Alternatively, towels and swimwear can be hired from reception.
This experience takes place in Tikitere, 20 minutes from Rotorua CBD.
