Get lost in a Jurassic-type world during this guided kayaking tour from Waimangu Valley. Paddle out onto Lake Rotomahana and be entranced by steaming cliffs, colourful landscapes and Mount Tarawera dominating the backdrop. If you arrive early, you can embark on a walk through the volcanic valley.
Meeting at Waimangu Volcanic Valley, you will travel down to the edge of Lake Rotomahana and be run through a safety and instructional briefing, before striking out into the serene waterways. It won't be long until you feel like you're in another world where steaming cliffs and colourful landscapes abound. Your guide will provide you with all necessary equipment, then run through safety and basic kayak instructions before you take the helm on the water. From here you will kayak a short distance before being captivated by a spectacular geothermal display of steaming cliffs and colourful landscapes. From your kayak, you will have a unique vantage point and perspective of the raw beauty and power these geysers create. Your guide will share the story of the valley along with insight to Maori culture and heritage of the area. This is an activity you will never forget!
