Fly high above the remote Wick Mountains, the rugged surrounding landscapes and the shores of Lake Te Anau, taking in the views of Mitre Peak and Milford as they unfold below with this scenic helicopter flight. Home to many historical landscapes, Milford Sound’s grandeur is best appreciated by air.
You'll want to take the time to enjoy the view with this fantastic helicopter flight, which sees you fly from Lake Te Anau to Milford Sound, taking in the breathtaking scenery of a part of the world that is famous for an excellent reason. Departing from the Te Anau Lakefront Drive Helipad, you will follow the shores of Lake Te Anau on your way to your first landing at Mt Skelmorlie. Once you've had enough of this picturesque area that looks down on the famous Milford Track and Clinton Valley (as though you could ever have enough!), you will take to the sky once again, flying over the remote Wick Mountains and rugged landscape including Lake Iceberg, so called because it grows Icebergs!
Views of Mitre Peak and Milford Sound unfold as you circuit the fiord to follow the Milford Track, flying over the McKinnon Pass before your second landing of the day at Lake Quill, located in a hanging alpine valley that feeds the famous Sutherland Falls. Milford Sound is 15 km long, extending from the Tasman Sea to the Deep Water Basin harbour, a truly spectacular stretch of Earth that was the location for epic scenic shots in The Hobbit Trilogy and really is deserving of every superlative you can think of!
Minimum numbers do apply - two person per flight - subject to aircraft availability, but we will always do our best to combine bookings in order to accommodate our customers.
You can watch the aircraft take off however space in office is limited, there is a toilet available on site.
The pilots make a weather call each morning. Passengers are welcome to call the office for an update. If we have concerns regarding weather, we usually try and give booked passengers a call the day before to talk through options.
Sturdy shoes, pants, and a light jacket. Wearing warm layers is a good idea since it can be a little colder up in the mountains at our landing location but nice and warm inside the helicopter.
All our flights are shared with others. If you would prefer to book an exclusive flight, please let us know at the time of booking and we will confirm the cost with you. The number of passengers and weight will determine the most the suitable aircraft.

That’s 10% of the Australian population! When we started ‘doing’ experiences in 2001, Facebook didn’t exist; the iPod had just been invented; John Howard was Prime Minister; and Destiny's Child were popular (yikes!). We’ve been at this business of experiences for quite a while, so put your trust in us to show you a good time.
