Enjoy all the thrills and spills of the Waiohine Gorge, guided by local experts. Your adventure will kick off at the Waiohine Gorge campsite, where your guide will gear you up and lead you into an unforgettable day. You'll navigate 14 thrilling rapids through pristine waters, gaze at cascading waterfalls, and feel the rush of true wilderness. With plenty of chances to dive into the awa—including an exhilarating 8m rock jump for those daring enough—you’ll be buzzing with excitement.
Midway through, you'll break for a riverside lunch before swapping out the wetsuits for abseiling gear. Towering above the gorge, a 30m rockface awaits your descent. Channel your inner superhero—whether you’re the next Spider-Man or Spider-Woman—as you conquer this exhilarating challenge.
Session Length
This experience runs for a duration of six hours.
Restrictions
Children must be at least 8 years old to participate in abseiling part of the trip.
Guidelines
- Please advise of any dietary restrictions
- Please advise of any medical conditions that may affect your trip
- Not recommended for travelers with back problems, heart problems, or other serious medical conditions
- Not recommended for pregnant travelers
Cancellation
- Change your booking up to 24 hours before the start time of your experience
- Changes are not permitted within 24 hours of your experience
- Late arrivals or no-shows may result in you forfeiting your experience
Numbers on the Day
A minimum number of four participants is required for a tour to go ahead.
Dress Code
We provide all the river gear to keep you warm and safe on the river, however you will need to bring a towel and something to wear under your wetsuit. You will also need to bring active wear you are comfortable abseiling in. We also recommend bringing your own woolen/thermal socks as peoples feet tend to get cold the quickest. Please do not wear cotton items as these will keep you cold when they get wet.
