Discover the heart of Maori culture at the iconic Waitangi Treaty Grounds for a hangi dinner and concert, where traditions and history come alive. Your incredible evening begins at the Whare Waka Cafe, with stunning views of the Bay Islands. As the sun sets, watch the expert hangi chef, using the Maori method of cooking in underground steam ovens, reveal your meal. Take a brief bush walk with your host to experience a traditional challenge (wero), then be captivated by a dynamic cultural performance in the beautifully carved Te Whare Runanga.
Afterwards, meet the performers and learn more about their traditions. Return to the cafe to indulge in a hearty buffet of meats, vegetables, bread, salad and steamed pudding for dessert. This experience also includes admission to the grounds, where you can explore at your own pace, either the same day or the next. Enjoy guided tours and access to the museums, allowing you to fully appreciate the rich culture and history of one of New Zealand's most significant landmarks.
