Be amazed by the thousands of magical glowworms above, as you glide silently by boat in the world famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves. Many of the tour guides are descendants of the Maori chief who originally explored the cave and can share with you the remarkable history of the area.

Marvel at this incredible light display as you meander through the starry wonderland of the glowworm grotto, one of the absolute must-see attractions in New Zealand. Gaze above at the myriad of glow worm lights that make up the cave as they guide you by their light.
Thousands of these tiny glow worms, unique to New Zealand, will radiate their unmissable luminescent light as your expert guide provide commentary on the history and geology of the caves.
Session Length
- Please allow approximately 45 minutes for this experience
- Tours available daily including Christmas Day
- Tours depart every half an hour between 10am-3.30pm
Restrictions
All photography is strictly forbidden; this includes non-flash photography and video.
Guidelines
Cave temperature is constant between 14 to 15 celsius throughout the year.
Cancellation
- Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
- Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
- Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience
Dress Code
Please bring comfortable walking shoes and a warm jacket.
